ASYMETRIC80 - "Rara Avis"

Release date: June 21, 2024

Influences: EBM, Techno Body Music, New Beat, Industrial Techno, Techno

The Spaniard Gonzalo Sandor immediately captured my attention when he launched his first dance floor attacks in the early 2020s. With hypnotic, industrial techno rhythms, he mesmerized both the seasoned techno and EBM audiences, as well as the younger, eager club kids.

With this intricate five-track EP, he keeps up his pace in style with another compact collection of industrial, EBM, techno- and new beat-inspired creations.

The Barcelona-based DJ and producer doesn’t, in any way, overthrow the established paradigms of the genre, but his creative precision and craftsmanship are undeniable. Vocal overlays and samples are interwoven with surgical accuracy into the relentless, driven analog bass lines and slick drum sequences. These are complemented by a rich mosaic of textured sonic details that shape robust and immersive, dissonant soundscapes.

His work seems to possess an almost magnetic allure, and these new cuts are destined to instantly carve their way into DJ sets to leave a lasting mark once again. Given the Spaniard’s relentless production pace, this is likely just a taste of what’s to come. With Rara Avis ASYMETRIC80 will, without a doubt, continue to shake the concrete foundations of the dark, smoke-filled catacombs for years to come. (Jens Atterstrand)

The EP comes digitally and in a limited (300 copies) 180 gram black vinyl edition that has been specially mastered for vinyl by Daniel Hallhuber at Young and Cold Studios in Germany.
